I've always had a thing for the ice cool gallic blonde. I've seem many of her films and loved her collaborations with Malcolm McLaren.
Delighted then, when in a Novel Idea I came across Close Up & Personal, a translation of film diaries which she kept whilst on set during a career
that spanned more than 40 years.
Powered through the diaries, loved the photos and thought briefly about Patrick Doyle. He used to be a neighbour of mine in Glasgow
when I lived in Kirklee Quadrant. He worked on a number of her films, producing soundtracks for East-West in 1998 and Indochine in 1992.
He's a world class composer, charming and great fun. One New Year was spent in his company with his family, twas a hoot!
I sincerely hope he writes a book or 5 about his movie experiences, he's produced music for films from Harry Potter, Carlitos Way, Dead Again, Donnie Brasco,
Great Expectations, Nanny McPhee and Calendar Girls. More famous than Uddingston's Tunnocks Factory I'd say!
